Arrival and Parking

You will arrive on Live Oak Trail, which is located off of US 70, in between Durham and Hillsborough.

You will drive around the circle at the end of Live Oak Trail, and Park on the side of the gravel road in front of the 8 foot tall deer fence.

Vegetable Garden

Our Landlords, the owners of Brave Roots Speech Therapy, have a beautiful vegetable garden that we can spend time in together.

Accessible Play Areas

We are working hard to create several play areas that are accessible to people who use mobility devices, such as walkers and wheelchairs.

We have a grassy front yard, a back yard filled with vegetable beds and fruit trees, and over 40 acres of pristine Piedmont forest to explore.

Bathroom Facilities

Participants in Running Cedar Therapies are welcome to use the bathroom in our landlord's house.

But we do ask that you use the bathroom before you come so that we minimize our impact on their septic system as much as possible.

Fascinating Activities Abound!

Our chickens who live next to our main play area are just one example of the many possibilities of engagement and growth that can be found on our land.

Children and families can feed the chickens vegetable scraps from the garden and enjoy their excitement as they gobble up these treats!

While You Wait

For safety reasons, we ask parents and caregivers to stay on the property during individual sessions. However, this is going to be your favorite time of the week!  If your child is not using it for therapy, you’re free to enjoy the beautiful parent waiting area.

  • relax in our parents only hammock

  • sit or take a nap in our comfy, padded chairs

  • sit around the campfire or table with fellow parents and get to know one another

  • bring your computer and catch up on your work in a beautiful environment

If your child or teen is participating in a group session, we’ll already have multiple adults onsite. This means you're free to take advantage of the amenities on our property or take the 10-minute drive to downtown Hillsborough for the 2 hours of your child’s group.

The following locations are within easy driving distance of our site:

  •

  • Weaver Street Market and Orange County Public Library - 6.5 miles

  • Occoneechee Speedway - 5.5 miles

  • Brumley Forest Nature Preserve 2.5 miles

Parent Waiting Areas

It's not just children who will have an opportunity to spend time in a beautiful environment during therapy sessions.

Parents will be able to enjoy spending time on the front porch swing, walking in the beautiful forest, or sitting in our chairs on the back porch.
